Looking Back
I wouldn't go as far as saying that global issues have an impact on everyone in the same way, we are all different therefore things that are important to some of us aren't important to everyone. I do believe that everyone is capable of contributing to positive change because it doesn't take much to make a difference. If each person did their part the world could function a lot better. Its no secret that there are problems in the world but I agree that you have to use a bit of logic to figure things out but sometimes you get the best solutions when you think outside of the box. I truly believe that we are horrible at balancing the worlds resources. The people who work long, grueling hours barely have enough to live o while we sit in offices or do petty jobs and we waste enough to feed them. I think we all need to take responsibility for finding a solution since we are the ones causing the problems. I think that some things have gotten better over the years but some have stayed the same and some have definitely gotten much worse.

Have you ever wondered what the challenges are of being an lgbtq person? I know I sure would. I've done a fair bit of research and seems as though they feel that they don't have a choice in the way that they live. They aren't allowed to marry the person they love in a lot of places, they are under constant scrutiny for the choices that they make, and they feel afraid to be who they really are. It is 2015 and we have made huge movements in lgbtq human rights so why are people still afraid to be who they really are inside.
There are tons of factors that are making life difficult for lgbtq people; small-minded homophobic people who think just because someone is different that they don't deserve the same rights as them, the government not doing enough to protect these rights, and people who maybe aren't part of the lgbtq community, but still believe in their rights but aren't doing anything about it.
Canada has taken great leaps toward lgbtq rights. Lgbtq people can now legally get married in Canada, its becoming easier for gay and lesbian couples to adopt, and people are becoming more accepting of the lgbtq culture and realizing that there is nothing wrong with it.
This issue exists everywhere. I would have to say that Canada is one of the most accepting countries. I feel for the people in small communities in Africa or Iran where it is greatly frowned upon to be an lgbtq person.
We can help the lgbtq people by doing a few minor things: educate the people who are passing judgement without really understanding the issue at hand, support the people by giving them hate for trying to live their lives, and stand up to the homophobic people who are spreading hate just because they don't feel same-sex marriage or gender reassignments are right. We don't tell them that the way they live is wrong, so where do they get the right to control the lives of the lgbtq community.
Do you do your part as a global citizen? Being a global citizen means exercising your rights and doing your part to make the world a better place for everyone. I think that its extremely important because human rights are there for a reason. All people deserve to be treated with an equal amount of respect and understanding.

My Chosen Issue
I have chosen Sexual Identities in Canada for my key issue. This is an issue because LGBTQ (homosexual) persons are not getting the same rights as heterosexual (straight) people. Heterosexual people are denied the right to marry whoever they want whenever they want unless they live in certain places. The government believes that just because they aren't marrying someone from the opposite sex, that their marriage is improper and should not be legal. What ever happened to love being love? Why are those people forced to hide who they are in the fear of being judged or being frowned upon by those who don't have the same beliefs as them? It doesn't matter who it is, LOVE IS LOVE!
